IMS over WiMAX
WiMAX offers the ability to provide high-bandwidth transport and broadband access across a wide geographical area, eliminating the challenges of laying down wires. Deploying WiMAX with an IMS solution enables operators to deliver advanced services quickly and cost-effectively.

An IMS solution provides access to a wealth of multimedia services while at the same time providing a network convergence point to minimize OPEX and CAPEX. TDM and IP services can co-exist in an IMS-enabled solution, enabling operators to take advantage of new service delivery and enhanced time-to-market, without having to perform a wholesale replacement of the existing infrastructure. For a new build, an IMS solution provides a platform for launching new services quickly and easily, with service differentiation.

The Veraz IMS over WiMAX solution delivers an end-to-end solution, consisting of the Veraz ControlSwitch, the Multimedia Service Delivery Platform, and the Multimedia Optimization Suite. At the core, the Veraz ControlSwitch provides the signaling and routing capability for both IP and TDM networks. The ControlSwitch call/session control function ensure high session completion through the operator managed network, and ultimately delivers a quality user experience through its Dynamic Application Control and SIP Session control. Policy and Charging Control (PCC) architecture determines and enforces dynamic end-to-end Quality of Service (QoS) and charging policies to all the network infrastructure elements involved in providing a specific requested service.

Veraz also provides auto-provisioning for user devices, enabling plug-and-play access devices for faster time-to-revenue and improved user experience.

The Multimedia Service Delivery Platform (MSDP) contains the service broker, able to provide a single interface to any type of access platform and service, whether IMS or non-IMS device. The service broker enhances time-to-revenue by enabling new services and applications to be added to the network quickly and easily, with one interface to OSS/BSS and one set of provisioning instructions, independent of access device. All services are accessible from a variety of networks and devices. A rich suite of applications are also available in the MSDP, such a Prepaid, Presence, Conferencing, Unified Messaging, and Web. Third-party applications can also be quickly added to the MSDP, enhancing time-to-revenue. The Veraz Virtu, a multimedia softclient, can also be used to deliver new services and increase ARPU.

The Veraz Multimedia Optimization Suite contains the I-Gate 4000 Media Gateways as well as the Network-Adaptive Border Controller. These devices provide high-quality transmission of voice and fax traffic between the packet network and the PSTN, as well as security. The I-Gate 4000 can also deliver up to a tenfold increase in voice capacity for lowest cost per user.

The Veraz IMS over WiMAX solution give operators the advantage to quickly and easily deliver new services to new customers, in a future-proof network solution, that keeps costs and revenues in balance. The resulting solution makes possible the deployment of flexible subscriber services, while lowering network investment and operating costs.
