In many countries, telecom regulatory bodies are now mandating that service providers implement number portability (NP), and allow subscribers to keep their phone numbers when changing service providers or moving locations. For many carriers this is both an opportunity and a threat as the introduction of NP lowers the barrier to churn and enables subscribers to move their service while keeping the same number. In a multi-switch environment, the cost to comply with a NP requirement can include the license fees for each of the switches, plus the integration cost of making each of the different implementations work together.
Veraz solves the service provider challenge by providing a cost-effective and flexible NP solution.

Easy and cost effective Local Number Portability (LNP) implementation and compliance
- Enables regulatory compliance by providing faster and more frequent provisioning, enabling database refresh within minutes
- Centralizes service, reducing administration costs
- Supports both an integrated Number Portability database as well as access to external systems such as an SCP or HLR
- Supports SIP, SS7, and ENUM protocols
- Provides a platform extensible for offering additional directory-based services
- Integrated and/or external number database
One NP database can serve multiple, unique numbering plans thereby enabling operators to serve multiple geographies or multiple networks. For operators with multiple networks or geographies, this can translate into a large cost savings.
The Veraz NP Solution provides a single point of management for geographically distributed elements, including end-to-end CDR and call tracing for ease of network management and operation, thereby minimizing the cost of NP compliance and lowering operational costs.
The Veraz NP Solution is able to handle large databases (up to 400 million entries) within the ControlSwitch. Alternately, the ControlSwitch can access external SCPs with no limit on the database size.
The Veraz NP Solution was designed for interoperability with other network elements and provides open interfaces and APIs, ensuring smooth integration for existing backoffice systems.
The Veraz ControlSwitch was designed for easy adaptation to different signaling protocols. Veraz' ControlSwitch provides comprehensive support and interworking for H.323, SIP, SIP-I, PRI, CAS and SS7 (40+ variants).
The Veraz integrated border gateway functionality enables network-wide security policies to be established, in addition to local security policies. Veraz also provides a single point of interface to manage, create, and monitor network security.
Veraz has extensive experience deploying and maintaining its solutions around the world.
