In the wake of the recent terrorist attacks and the need to combat other criminal actions, regulatory authorities imposed that, like legacy telcos, VoIP service providers must comply on the adoption of Legal Interception (LI).
LI is the interception of communication between two or more users by law enforcement authorities and intelligence agencies. LI must be in accordance with local laws and procedures.
A significant upheaval that service providers are facing is the costs involved with the regulatory compliance and the costs of transitioning this solution from their Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) network to an IP Multimedia Subsystem/Next Generation Network (IMS/NGN).
The ControlSwitch platform allows service providers to interface with LI solutions already deployed in the network. It can operate in hybrid --legacy TDM and VoIP - networks. The Veraz ControlSwitch product family allows authorities to obtain transparent (without warning users of the interception) surveillance and intelligence-gathering, including the ability to, in real time, intercept a call at the core or at the edge of a network. The LI solution from Veraz is highly cost effective and scalable.
